I'm James Lee, and Journey Seven is where my passion for filmmaking, photography, and narrative comes together. I've spent more than two decades behind the camera, photographing thousands of portraits and producing films that help people and organizations share what matters most. My goal is simple: create work that's honest, cinematic, and built to last beyond the moment.

Every project is different, but most video projects range between $5,000-12,500, with larger productions ranging well beyond that. Photography ranges between $2500-7500+. After learning more about your goals, I'll put together a proposal tailored to your project rather than forcing it into a package.
-
Most projects include everything needed to deliver a polished final product—from planning and production to editing, licensed music, color grading, and drone footage when appropriate. My goal is to keep the process simple so you can focus on your story, not a list of add-ons.
-
I primarily work with brands, nonprofits, conferences, and creative agencies to produce cinematic films and photography. Whether it's a flagship brand film, fundraising campaign, event coverage, or commercial project, I'm drawn to work that has purpose and tells a meaningful story.
My work is intentionally crafted, with time dedicated to planning, production, and post-production—not rushed for the sake of speed.
-
Absolutely. From creative development and planning to filming, editing, and final delivery, I can manage the entire process or collaborate with your existing team wherever it makes the most sense. My clients and I prefer that I direct the creative process rather than be an order taker.
-
Yes. Many of my favorite client relationships have grown into long-term partnerships. Whether it's a monthly content plan, annual campaigns, or simply having a creative partner you can call when needed, I enjoy and prefer building relationships that last beyond a single project.
-
I'm based in Richmond, Virginia and regularly work throughout the Mid-Atlantic and beyond. If the project is a good fit, I'm always happy to travel.
-
Both. I regularly collaborate directly with brands and nonprofits, and I also partner with creative agencies as a director, cinematographer, photographer, or production partner. However the project comes together, my goal is the same: create great work with good people.
-
I've always been drawn to movies and entertainment. While most shy away from the spotlight, I kinda love it especially when it's done in a meaningful way. Photography taught me to recognize meaningful moments, and filmmaking gave me a way to bring those moments to life. Over time, what started as curiosity became the career I'm grateful to pursue today.
-
Yes. Every project includes a clear production timeline, and I take deadlines seriously. If a timeline ever needs to shift, you'll know well in advance—communication is just as important as the work itself.
-
That's completely normal. Part of my job is helping you define the right approach, whether that's a single film, a photo campaign, or something in between. We'll figure it out together.
-
For me, it's never been about making content for the sake of content. Every project is an opportunity to create something thoughtful, cinematic, and genuine—work that people don't just watch, but remember.
